Presented by District of Raga and IDEA, in collaboration with The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
IDEA will present Jhankaar, A rhythmic explosion to honor and mark Diwali or Deepavali, the festival of lights traditionally celebrated in India with bursting of firecrackers. Keeping the essence of the fireworks and celebrations IDEA’s Jhankaar is a rhythmic explosion of an exploration of rhythms and melodies of Indian classical dance and music being presented in four Indian classical dance styles - Kuchipudi, Bharathnatyam, Kathak, and Odissi. While journeying through each dance style we will get a glimpse of the significance and how each region of India celebrates Diwali or Deepavali. This vibrant production celebrates the joy of "nritta" or pure dance and hopes the audience will resonate in our jubilant frequency!
