District of Raga Presents A Celebration of Diwali: Aditya Prakash Trio Feat Erika Dohi and Kamalakiran Vinjamuri

  • The John F Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts 2700 F Street Northwest Washington, DC, 20566 United States (map)

Presented by District of Raga, in collaboration with The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

Aditya Prakash Trio featuring Aditya Prakash on vocal and percussion, Erika Dohi on piano, and Kamalakiran on violin is a performance that explores a genre-fluid space by musicians who have deep roots in the classical traditions of Karnatik and Western. The performance will feature melodically experimental explorations unraveling points of connection between the “contemporary and traditional” by pushing the boundaries of raga and playing with dissonance, harmony, beauty, and tension. The performance is in response to the Celebration of Diwali, a festival commonly associated with the triumph of awareness, compassion, and illumination over hate, ignorance, and darkness.

For all Millennium Stage performances, a limited number of advance reservations are available on a first come, first served basis. Advance reservations do not guarantee a seat, and patrons are encouraged to arrive early. Click here to reserve tickets.

For live Millennium Stage performances, free tickets will also be available at the Hall of States Box Office on the day of the performance.

Seating is first come, first served. Standing room is available behind the seated area as space allows.
